Car Accessories For Kids? Do Not Leave Home Without Them!

Trying to keep toddlers and young children happy and occupied while traveling, is not always easy and can be very exhausting and frustrating for parents, but there are accessories you can take along on your trip to make traveling easier for you and fun for the kids. As well, it can seem disastrous to realize that you have forgotten something that is critical for their personal care, and you are miles away from home or stores.

Make things easier for you and the kids by keeping a sturdy plastic container filled with small toys is in your vehicle. Children love to have something to do with their hands when they cannot jump, run around and climb on things. Toddlers especially tend to lose interest in certain activities, so it is a good idea to keep a variety of soft toys to help keep them occupied. Small stuffed animals are a great thing to snuggle up to when they get sleepy. A favorite baby blanket is always nice too.

Children that are a little older; say 3 to 4 years old, are probably still happy with the snuggle blanket and a few select stuffed toys when it is nap time, but the activities that they are starting to do now are requiring a little more concentration. Small books with colorful pictures seem to be a favorite, especially if the pictures are of animals, because they learn to associate the pictures with live animals that they see while in the car. Activity boards are an absolute wonder. There are usually several different things on them to help keep children occupied for some time.

Here is a real lifesaver for parents. A soft tray that attaches to the sides of the car seat in front of the child and makes it so much easier for Mom and the little one when it is snack time on the road. It helps make clean up time easier too. Keep finger food snacks and bottled water or juices in a lunch kit or small picnic tote. A diaper bag containing personal care items for your children are probably the number one set of child car accessories you will be happy to have in your car. Diapers, bottles, disposable cleansing cloths, ointment and any medications your child might need. Do not forget things like plastic bags for soiled items, spoons, spill proof cups and one or two extra changes of clothing.

Children get irritable when they are confined to a car seat for several hours and that can be a distraction to the driver, preventing him from concentrating on driving. Traffic accidents happen every day in cities and on the highways because of distractions caused by children. Think safe when traveling with your kids. Driving around town can be stressful all by itself, but by making sure you have all the necessary accessories for your children and you will find just how much easier life can be; for you and for them.
