Looking For the Best Used Car Dealer

Posted: Saturday, April 30, 2011

By Alan Lim

So how do you know who to trust? Which car dealer is best to transact business? Here is some useful information on searching for the best used car dealer.

1) Reputation: This is the most vital in choosing car dealer. Making business deals with fair, honest and accommodating car dealer is easy as long as you find a reputable dealership. You should check with the local Better Business Bureau for car dealers reliability report and you could ask relatives and friends for past car dealers they dealt with that guarantee satisfaction.

2) Services: Finding the best car dealers should not be the only factor to consider. Make sure the services the car dealers provide are appropriate. These services include:

* Check and check out - Most car dealers provide express maintenance and service appointments to its customers.

* Car loans - Some extend their services by handling or providing assistance with your financial needs.

* Service rates - Each car dealership has various service discounts. Service rates may vary depending on the name, location, other benefits, and negotiations.

* Warranty - Some car dealers offer free extended car warranties when you purchase used cars or service and examine vehicles from them.

3) Price range: Most people assume that the price you pay is for the whole vehicle. This is not the case when doing business with car dealers.

Majority of dealerships include "add-ons" that may include window tinting, car accessories, CD changers, paint protector products, undercarriage coatings, car interior accessories and many more. Some car dealers may try and force the customers into purchasing them usually install the add-ons.

If these additional accessories would be an advantage for you, it might be a blessing. However, if you prefer to purchase the car alone, check to see the car you wish to buy if it includes add-ons refrain from paying additional for each.

Extra fees such as dealer handling and dock fees are charged to set up a used car for sale, maintaining the car and preparing needed documents for the car sale. These extra fees could be negotiated since all of these services would only provide additional profit for the dealer.

Aside from a respectful, dignified and honest car dealer, consider these factors in choosing the best car dealer. You may be purchasing a used car, but by looking for the best person to assist you, it will lead to a good investment.

Is The Hybrid Battery The Most Desirable Of 4x4 Accessories?

Posted: Sunday, April 24, 2011

Fossil fuels can't last for ever and burning them is now universally accepted as being harmful to the planet on which we live. These are two good reasons to find alternative sources of fuel, especially for those who drive gas-guzzling vehicles. So, with pressure groups queuing up to condemn them and the government already penalizing them with higher road taxes, the future looks grim for 4x4 drivers. Is it possible for them to drive the vehicles that they love but at the same time become more environmentally friendly?

The UK has some of the highest fuel prices found anywhere in the world. So, why are we so reluctant to find and adopt alternatives? Fuel source alternatives such as electric and LPG are used by less than one per cent of road-users in the UK. However, this could soon change as vehicle manufacturers are pouring millions of pounds into developing Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) as an alternative to petrol-only cars, and that development includes 4x4 versions.

Electric cars have been traditionally cumbersome to use. Recharging the low-capacity battery requires plugging them into the wall on extension cords overnight, and their tested vehicle performance to date has been very poor. Factors such as negligible acceleration, lack of power and limited range have all conspired against their universal acceptance. Useful for only short journeys, electric cars are hardly suitable alternatives for 4x4 enthusiasts and the heavy demands many of them place on performance. However, newly developed hybrid vehicles offer a combination of both the electric and traditional internal combustion engine technology, vastly improving their performance and making them much more attractive to 4x4 users.

Like most new technologies, there are different developments in the offing, with each providing variant solutions; two of the most popular being 'series' and 'parallel'. For the 'series' system of hybrid engines, the generator is powered by petrol which charges the electric motor and in turn powers the wheels. In the 'parallel' system, either the petrol or electric motor or both can power the wheels.

For 4x4 off-road vehicles the parallel HEV is the only real alternative. This is because the mechanism allocates the engine according to operational need. So, when a surge in power is required, such as when heading uphill, the parallel system will automatically switch to the petrol engine if the electric system is struggling. In the series version, the petrol engine will only kick in when the battery levels are significantly reduced: not an acceptable option for most off-road drivers.

However, general acceptance of hybrid vehicles for 4x4 users will only happen when their performance equals that of conventional engines.

Before You Leave on That Road Trip - Making Sure Your Car is Ready

Posted: Thursday, April 21, 2011

By Jay Gaulard

A big road trip is looming in the future. Can you be sure that your car is ready? Before you head out on the open road, there are some important safety checks you need to make. After all, nothing would ruin a vacation faster than serious car trouble on your way to your destination!

On Month Before Leaving

Preparing for a car trip starts long before you are ready to go. About a month before you are ready to leave, there are some steps you need to take. First, you need to complete any major repairs that are needed on the vehicle. Often repairs lead to the discovery of more problems, and you want to be sure that your car is in the best shape possible before you take a long trip.

If you are traveling in the summer or headed somewhere that is significantly warmer than your home, have your coolant checked. If you are traveling where it will be below freezing, make sure the coolant has the proper amount of antifreeze in it. Change the coolant if it needs to be changed.

This is also the time to check your tires. Do a tread check by placing a penny in the car's tread, with President Lincoln's head pointed down and facing you. If you can see the entire head, the tread is too worn and you need to replace your tires. While this might seem like a very big expense, worn tires can burst while driving, which can be a very dangerous situation. Also, make sure your spare is inflated and that you have the necessary tools to change a tire if needed, such as a jack and a wrench.

This is also a good time to spring for a brake inspection. Brakes that fail can cause serious accidents, and often something as simple as replacing the brake pads can keep your family much safer. It is better to know now that something is wrong with your brakes, rather than finding out as you are driving.

Finally, check the glove box for the car's owner's manual, insurance card, and registration. If any of these items are missing, request them. You can order a manual from the car's manufacturer, or you may be able to download it online. If your insurance or registration is going to expire while you are on your trip, renew it before you leave.

The Week You Leave

When you are getting closer to the time of your departure, head to the mechanic to have an oil change done along with any other routine maintenance that is due on the vehicle. You may wish to schedule a full tune up. You want your car to be running as efficiently as possible before you head onto the open road. Check the pressure in the tires and double check the tread. Make sure the air filter is clean, because a dirty air filter will reduce your gas mileage. If the air filter has been in the car for 10,000 or more miles, go ahead and change it, even if you do not think it looks dirty.

Now you need to clean out the interior of your car. You need room for your luggage, and anything that you do not need simply adds weight to the vehicle, which cuts down on your gas mileage. Some things you should not remove, however, are your first aid kit and emergency supply stash. Make sure these are well stocked. However, if you are not going to be in cold weather, you can remove the winter emergency kit from the car, if you have one. Don't get the car washed or vacuum the interior yet, however, because you still have a week to get it dirty again.

If you do not have an atlas, buy a good one. If you do have one and it is old, replace it. GPS systems and map printouts are great, but an atlas is one tool that you can rely on even if the electronics stop working. Also, you may be forced to take a detour, either due to construction or because you want to see some sights, and your printed maps or GPS may not help in this situation, as they are going to show you the shortest possible route to your destination.

The Day Before Departure

The day before you are scheduled to leave, you need to check the tire tread and the tire pressure again. Tires are not something to leave to chance, so make sure they are in good shape before you leave! Check the owner's manual to see if your vehicle has separate tire pressure recommendations for heavy loads or high speeds, both of which probably apply to you as you prepare for your trip. If you need to make an adjustment, do so when you fill up, which is another thing you can do the night before you leave. Then you have one less thing to do on your way out of town the next day.

Packing up to Leave

On the day of departure, think carefully about where you pack your items in your vehicle. The heavier items should be placed as far forward as possible. Also, try to keep the load level. Make sure that you do not overload your vehicle. Remember, every vehicle has limits. These tips will help to increase your fuel economy as you drive. It will also keep your family safer if you should run into inclement weather along the way. A car that is packed unevenly is more prone to spinning off of the road and does not get good gas mileage.

With these tips, your family will be as safe as possible on your next road trip. Remember, you cannot plan for the unexpected, but you can be as prepared as possible for whatever comes your way. Preparing your car is not just a good idea, but it is also essential to enjoying your vacation free from worry and hassle.

An Overview on How to Install LED Under Car Lights

Posted: Monday, April 18, 2011

By Antonio T Gabellone

Are you having trouble installing LED under car lights onto your vehicle? Or maybe your just not sure where all the wires for the under car lights go? Let us show you all the "in's & out's" of this type of installation - which i should mention, is designed with the "Novice" in mind.

The first thing you'll need to do when installing LED under car lights, is to find where you want to mount the led tubes. Be sure to keep their location in mind while doing the wiring part of the installation, so you can allow for the correct lengths of the wires.

It is ideal to mount the led tubes so as they are centered between the overall length of the vehicle for optimal appearance. Tubes should be positioned on the chassis of the vehicle so as they are not visible. Visible led car lights are prohibited by law in most cities.

You'll now need to disconnect the battery before starting on the installation and the drilling of holes. Do this by disconnecting the negative battery cable. This led under car lights installation involves disconnecting the battery first and foremost for safety reasons, and so you don't "short-out" your car wiring.

The easiest way to mount the LED tubes is to start the screws in the brackets first,(supplied in kit) then holding the bracket in place, insert and tighten the screws into the holes. Make sure that the wires coming from the *Side* tubes are facing the front of the vehicle. It's best to tighten the screws just enough to hold the bracket in place, then go back after once you almost finished and individually tighten each one until it seats firmly.

You should have a distribution block in your under car lights kit, find a good location for the block on a flat surface in the engine compartment away from any heat or moving parts.

Next you will need to determine a location inside your vehicle to mount the digital control panel. You want it to be in a location where you can easily access all its buttons and functions while your sitting in the vehicle.

The LED under car lights distribution block and the control panel can be hooked together using the ribbon wire that comes with your particular kit. The wire needs to be pushed through a hole in the firewall and plugged into the "input" on the side of distribution block. For those of you who may be a bit confused as to what the firewall is, it's the wall that divides the engine compartment and the interior of the vehicle. Be careful when you do this because the wire adaptors are fragile.

The power wire on the digital control panel can be connected directly to the Positive side of the car battery or to any 12V power wire under the dashboard. There will also be an "Earth wire" or Negative ground wire coming out from the control panel that will need to be securely screwed to the chassis of the vehicle or to any "Earth wire" to complete the power circuit.

Finally, to be able to operate your LED under car lights, the included switch and fuse should be connected between the control panel and the power supply. All you need to do now is to plug all the LED tubes into the Distribution block, complete any additional wiring according to your kit instructions and then you'll be all set to show em off!

Please see our "More-In-depth" and step-by-step picture illustrated instructions on the How to install page listed below.

How to Decorate the Wedding Car

Posted: Sunday, April 3, 2011

By Richard Jon Aronson

Decorating the car is traditionally, the responsibility of the groom and can become sometimes very hilarious or strange and will be sometimes a little bad for the couple. Nowadays, there are many couples who are very moody in selecting every thing in their marriage preparation. They also pay great attention onto the decoration of their wedding car which is the main highlight.

The beauty of the wedding car means most, but apart from that the safety of the wedding car should be your utmost priority. There should be no danger on the safety of the newly-wed couple as they drive from the reception to their residence.

The condition of the car should be preserved by using any accessories or supplies needed. To make a wedding car look beautiful the following things should be used-

• Confetti
• Pompoms
• Balloons
• Streamers etc.

These can be bought from online shops but buying from a local craft shop is advisable. Avoid using permanent markers or liquid shoe polish; window marker or liquid chalk should be used to write your desired messages, as they are simple to remove. You can use liquid chalk or window marker to write sentences like "Just married" or "We've just got married". There are many types of magnetic and vinyl signs that can be easily hanged onto the window and can be easily removed. These signs come in various shapes and designs and can also be specially made to include the marriage couple names or any other creative stuff. They can come in shapes like a heart or wedding bells or any other type of shape regarding marriage you want.

A combination of ribbons and flowers on the exterior of the wedding car can be a unique decoration. The appropriate width of the ribbon must be at least 2 inches. Flowers can be real or artificial. Both of them if tied with ribbons and put on the car would bring out the real beauty of the car. Some streamers, bulb lighting or ribbons can be used to decorate the antenna. Empty beer cans can be tied at the rear bumper of the car with ribbons.

As a safety precaution, it is advised that the car windshield should be decorated in a manner that this may not block the driver's view out of the windshield. The car looks very appealing and interesting from inside by using glitters and confetti. But on the other hand it may take a long time to clean up the mess.

In such a vast wedding, a wedding car doesn't matters much. But it is such a beautiful moment that every couple wants to remember throughout their life. So some couples plan a lot to create the best wedding car for their wedding.
