Setting up your car audio system can be a daunting task without the proper knowledge and information. You will need to know about how the components that you will need, the information behind these components and as well how to best use them. To guide you into knowing more about how you can set up your very own car audio system, this article will guide you through the rough basics.

First of all, look for your desired head unit. A head unit is the modern counter part of the stereo system. Always look for the best and newest models and always inquire about the ones that best fit your car model in terms of dashboard space as well as in terms of color and design. You can also choose ones that are have much functionality like audio players, video players as well as MP3s, CDs and DVDs also ones that accommodate accessibility for external storage devices. After you have chosen the right type of head unit, you will have to list down the other components such as your sound proofing material, amplifier, capacitor, loud speakers, subwoofers, tweeters and of course the wiring and accessories. Before I will further discuss the other components, look for the right sizes for each of them and always consider your car interior space as well as the colors and designs of each.

Sound proofing your car is essential in order for you to eliminate external noise constantly bothering you and constantly vibrating inside your car. For sound proofing there are a lot of available products such as sprays, foams, carpets and sheets which contain materials which absorb sound vibrations. This allows you to protect the car interior from engine noise and even the road and creates a cleaner atmosphere inside where you can drive more peacefully as well as hear the audio system clearer and crisper.

The next item you will need is an Amplifier. Amplifiers come in all shapes and sizes, buy one that is powerful and at the same time durable. Be careful with the false advertisements when you buy amplifiers, you need to see past false advertisements, and to help you with that and also for a deeper view of the components you can look into my car amplifier article and many more in my profile. The amps need to be placed behind the head unit or some place as near it as possible. The area needs to be well ventilated and there must be an ample access to air flow. The more powerful your amp is, the better control you have and the louder your sound system will be. A capacitor is also needed, think of it as an amp's best friend, it supplies electricity for sudden short burst which the car battery otherwise cannot supply. This also helps you in cases where your car headlights dim every time you turn on the car audio system.

The next sets of items you will need are the speakers and the wiring accessories. The speakers are divided into three parts, the loud speakers, the subwoofers and the tweeters. The loud speakers reproduce the sound signal from the amps, in general they are able to maximize the average range in the pitch but will fall short when it comes to lower and higher sound ranges. The sub woofers are excellent at reproducing bass sounds as well as low tones, installing a pair of them in your car can improve the sound output. For the higher sound range, the tweeters will greatly help your car in this area. They are excellent at picking up high notes and they can efficiently reproduce them. Lastly, the wiring and accessories also need to be prepared beforehand. Plan ahead of time where you will place all these components and measure out the needed length for all your needed cables and wiring, make sure you always allocate for errors. Always ask for compatible cables, wiring kits, fuses and adaptors.
